Baby Doll Circle Time is the curriculum introduced to the older infants and toddler classrooms. These 5-10 minutes lessons comes from the Conscious Discipline line and lay a foundation for secure connections, social play, self regulation, and sense of self. Baby Doll Circle time is a classroom favorite with all students!
Preschoolers are introduced to the Second Step curriculum. This research based curriculum teaches self regulation and social emotional skills. The elementary version of this curriculum is commonly used in school districts in the Kansas City area.
Depending on classroom dynamics and current hot button topics in each individual classroom, additional social-emotional resources are utlized in classroom such as books by Julia Cook and others.
Spanish is an exciting special taught by our own Senorita Judy. Music, books and hands on activities draw children in to learn common Spanish words and culture.
Movement is Marvelous is taught by our on staff Occupational Therapist, Ms. Sally.
Joyful noise is part of Parkwood Day School courtesy of our partnership with Leawood United Methodist Church. Taught by Ms. Melanie, children have the opportunity to experience new instruments, songs and sing joyfully in the church sanctuary.
Language & Literacy is taught by our on staff Speech & Language Pathologist, Ms. Joelle.
Kid appropriate yoga moves are taught using Yogarrila Exercises and Activities and carried into the classroom.
