Greetings! My name is Maggie McKinley and I am the Special Services Coordinator at Parkwood. I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology and my Master of Science in Education in Special Education from Missouri State University. I have 8 years of experience in special education from Early Childhood through Early Adulthood. I worked for Springfield, MO Public Schools in Early Childhood Special Education, Wichita Public Schools in a Middle School ID classroom and as an Autism Behavior Specialist with Shawnee Mission Public Schools prior to joining Parkwood Therapy. I also have many years of private therapy experience working primarily with young children on the Autism Spectrum.

My name is Sally Dennis. I have a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Kansas and a Masters of Education in Early Childhood from Emporia State University. I retired in 2010 as an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher and Occupational Therapist for the Kansas City Kansas School District but have worked for several districts in and around the Kansas City Area for the past 24 years in a variety of professional positions.
I have been married 38 years and have two sons and a daughter. I am also the proud grandmother of three wonderful granddaughters. This year I will be supporting the staff and children at Parkwood Day School by providing a thematic motor and music group as well as fine motor activities and groups for the older classrooms. When I am not working or taking care of my granddaughters I love to travel and have a hairbow business called PigStyle Bows.
JOELLE PIERSON, SLP-CCC | Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist | Parkwood Day School-Leawood
Joelle completed her undergraduate degree in speech language disorders and sciences from Eastern Illinois University. She holds a masters degree in Communication Disorders and Sciences from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas. She has been a practicing licensed Speech Language Pathologist for the past 16 years.
Joelle has experience working with children ages birth-12 years across settings: homes, daycares, inpatient/outpatient hospitals, clinics, schools and private practice. She has developed knowledge and therapy skills within a variety of areas including articulation, expressive and receptive language, social communication, auditory processing, and apraxia of speech. Joelle has worked with children with typical delays and children with variety of medical diagnosis. She has worked within an Autism communications classroom, serving children with a diagnosis of Autism.
Joelle has worked diligently in order to bridge the gap between home and school based therapies. Her goals are to help facilitate functional communication within the naturalistic environment, provide families with resources and tools to improve communication, and successfully collaborate with both families and therapists to provide the most beneficial team approach.
